Athletic Awards and Recycling

Athletic Awards takes pride in being an eco-friendly company. As part of our commitment to honor and respect the environment, we are always looking for ways to create an eco-friendly and sustainable work environment.

One of the most simple ways we reduce our waste is by reusing boxes and packing materials. Every week we receive hundreds of boxes filled with packing materials, from bubble wrap to styrofoam peanuts. We reuse most of these materials when we ship orders out to our customers.

By reusing materials and not relegating everything to the recycling or trash bins, we have been able to cut back on how often our recycling and garbage is picked up. We have been able to reduce our garbage pickup from once a week to once a month due to our eco-conscious practices.

We also get by with a little help from our friends. The University of Washington Men’s Basketball department returns the packing materials we use to protect their awards on a quarterly basis so it can be used again. Our neighbor, Glazer's Camera, also provides us with packing materials to be reused. And if we ever do need more boxes, we purchase used ones from the Carton Service Company.

In addition to reusing materials, Athletic Awards is a supplier of eco-friendly promotional products. When the City of Seattle banned plastic bags in 2012, we launched a campaign for selling reusable bags. Reusable bags have since become one of our most popular promotional product items. We find it important to provide our customers with eco-friendly options while taking part in sustainable practices ourselves.
