Monty Holmes
Past President
I began working part time in the industry with my dad as a kid, and then in 1974 I started full time becoming manager of the department in 1976. We started Athletic Awards in 1983, I then became president of the company in 1990, 2014 will be my 40th year in the industry. I have 2 sons, Brett and Ben whom both work here as well. In my spare time, I enjoy restoring classic cars; I believe they are rolling art. I have restored two 1934 Cadillac v-16s that I have taken to cars shows and received 2nd Place at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and in Kirkland at the Concours d'Elegance I received 1st place and 100 points for a perfect score. I also serve on the board of the Hydroplane Race Boat Museum. I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Katie; together we like to go camping, work around the house and garden, while caring for our two German Shorthaired dogs.

I started as an engraver at Athletic Awards Co. which is my family's business, worked in manufacturing and now I'm concentrating on sales and keeping the business running. I am a Washington State University graduate and I love being a Coug. It seems I have a new interest every week but my lasting interests have been cars, motorcycles, electronics and being an audiophile. I love to learn and it seems I'm always doing research on random subjects.

Manufacturing
I grew up making trophies back in my home state of Idaho. Athletic Awards took me on as an assembler when I made the move to Seattle for college. I have made trophies most of my life. My passion is for film. Having collected around 300 movies and counting, it's safe to say that I am a movie junkie. The natural thing for me is to also be a writer and filmmaker myself. I have wrote, produced and directed three short films and edit my own work. I am currently working on my first feature film and have high hopes for it.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I moved to the northwest in 2003 as I attended Gonzaga University where I attained both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In 2010, I moved to Seattle and have been here ever since.I joined the Athletic Awards family in March 2018. I am a fan of pretty much every sport and have been a life-long fan of the Bay Area sports teams. I consider myself a simple person as I appreciate a good nap, enjoy a good meal, and always use an Oxford comma.
